Terracotta/encaustic on sandstone base
9 3/4 x 6 x 6 1/8 inches
I had the good fortune to meet Sculptor Amy Kann while on my first First Friday Art Walk in Old City Philadelphia this past week. Ms. Kann was introduced to me by another artist, printmaker Rona Satten, when we went to see Ms. Kann's work at one of the art galleries open for the Art Walk.
A unique aspect about Ms. Kann's work is her use of encaustic on terra cotta. The effect is extremely interesting and gives the terra cotta sculpture the look of a patina on bronze. The technique is one worth exploring and there is no better way than to see her work in person (see her web site or the James Graham & Sons web site).

I'm going to bookmark this. It looks like you don't post frequently, but when you do it's really worthwhile stuff. Oh no! Something else to keep me out of the studio!

It's tiny, for a sulpture, but the photo makes it look huge!
