I purchased the oil colors needed for my upcoming still life workshop recently and I decided to use Gamblin Oil Colors. I had received a sample of their product at the one of the art shows in New York last year that I liked very much. I also spent some time checking out their website and found a section that will be of great interest to anyone working with colors/color wheel.
The section of the website I am referring to is called "Navigating Color Space" and is a treasure trove of information. The purpose of the section is to provide an artist a system of laying out their palette that will give predictable mixtures of color. I found it extremely helpful and logical in the way that Gamblin recommends the palette to be laid out. There is a DVD of the same name that can be ordered directly from the company that discusses this topic as well.
