I had a pleasant surprise in an otherwise grueling week today. I dropped by the Gertsev Gallery after lunch and met Ludmila Voyles, Director - Gertsev Gallery. I had stopped in the gallery, for a diversion from the many hours being spent at Piedmont Hospital, not knowing the fabulous art inside this special place. Ms. Voyles graciously walked me through the gallery and introduced me to the works of Oleg Dzjubenko, Kako, Ieva Iltnere and a several others that the gallery represented (All Russian or Soviet artists).
One artist in particular struck a chord with my tastes, Kako. The Kako painting that I saw was full of texture and color creating a childlike impression. I found myself going back to the painting in the gallery and enjoying the simplicity and harmony it created.
You can check out the Gertsev Gallery online or you can visit them while you are in Atlanta at 1929 Peachtree Road (404-352-2660).
